Golden Dragon

Painting Competition

2000

Info and latest news.

21 March 2000  The Gympie RSL is a wealth of information regarding the Orchid Room and has provided an interesting but comfortable outlook for the Golden Dragon.  Because the RSL is a licensed premises, we will not be able to bring our own food or drinks, but the RSL has a brilliant catering service and a wonderful bar.  Downstairs from the Orchid Room is an excellent restaurant and bar to supply soft drinks and etc..  The meals are very well priced and are you will be certainly well fed.

The catch is however the RSL has several dress standards.  Basically, No hats, No singlets (tank tops etc), and no thongs.  If you were a hat to the GD, leave it upstairs.

9 March 2000  Today I received information saying that there would be a Games Workshop staff member to provide a judge for the Golden Dragon.  In other news, it looks like the day may turn into a meeting place for clubs.  There should be ample space for you or you club to come and promote your club or event.  If you are interested, please contact me ASAP.

2 January 2000  Where to find us. The Golden Dragon is held in Gympie Queensland Australia.  We welcome painters and Gaming enthusiasts from anywhere.  Gympie is located on Highway one approximately 180 km north of Brisbane.  The Gympie RSL is located on the northern end of the main street of Gympie, Mary St.  The RSL has ample off street parking and easy access to the Orchid Room which is essentially the upstairs of the RSL club (in Gympie saying something is "Ground Floor" is not very accurate as there are many hills that can confuse this term).  There is also street parking.

At the moment, sponsorship for the event will be provided by Toyworld Gympie as major Sponsor, with other sponsorship from the Golden Dragon, Dragonplayers Gympie, and Games Workshop OZ.  There is plans in the pipeline to have a Games Workshop presence, but this is not confirmed.

Merchandise.  The Golden Dragon will sell Golden Dragon T-Shirts this year, with the art of Stuart Morrison.  Thanks to Stuart, this years Golden Dragon looks professional as well as very cool.  Check out Stuart's web page from the links page.  His several web sites are full of his painting skill as well as his art and Cartoons.
